Recently, at least 13 youth activists from Việt Nam have been arrested by Vietnamese police officers for participating in activities to advocate social justice in Việt Nam in addition to protesting against Chinese government claims over the Parcel and Spratly Islands.

All the proceeds (a total of $560!) will go towards supporting the families of these imprisoned youth activists. Activists' families are frequently targeted by the Vietnamese government in efforts to silence these activists.

Check out this great campaign that has been initiated by attendees of the Đại Hội Thanh Niên Sinh Viên Việt Nam Thế Giới Kỳ 6.

You can send personal letters to provide support and hope to the youth and their families who have been affected by the Vietnamese government's lack of concern for human rights.

"The Communist Government of Vietnam continues its efforts to silence all voices of conscience.  Since early August, at least 13 young patriots have been arrested by police officers and the Ministry of Public Security and held incommunicado without access to lawyers. These committed youth activists have participated in activities calling for social justice as well as protests against Chinese encroachment on Vietnamese territories. Several of these activists are prominent bloggers; most belong to the Vinh diocese of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.  As Vietnamese youth who value freedom, we oppose all acts of oppression and call for the immediate and unconditional release of these 13 youth activists.
With a multi-approach collaborative effort among many youth organizations worldwide, the Letter Writing Initiative can offer hope and send messages of solidarity directly to these youth activists and their families. "

Let us support these activists and let them know that they are not alone.
